Do you recommend home inspectors to your clients?  Do you find that buyers may see that as a conflict of interest?

Thomas: I believe that it can be a conflict of interest, although most buyers will ask for us to give them a referral. We do prefer that they choose their own inspector. Uhlinger: I strongly suggest to customers to use a local attorney and to rely on he or she to recommend who to use as an inspector. If I am acting as a buyer’s broker, then I recommend who to use.

Clarry: I do, because I can get them to schedule quickly — but it’s best to always recommend a few to alleviate any potential conflicts.

Cibulski: As an agent engaged in a contractual relationship with a buyer client, it is our fiduciary duty to advise our clients.

Moore: I do not recommend them, but have a lengthy list of inspectors, professional engineers, water testing and pest control companies that have been introduced to me primarily from previous customers.
