A suspect accused of using counterfeit money to buy lottery tickets at a Calverton store on two occasions more than a year ago was apprehended Wednesday, Riverhead Town police said.

Paul Allen, 24, of Roosevelt, was nabbed after an investigation stemming from incidents in July 2013 where he allegedly used fake $100 bills to attempt to buy lottery tickets, police said.

On Wednesday, Mr. Allen surrendered to Riverhead police and was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument, police said.

He was arrested and arraigned in Riverhead Justice Court where he was released on his own recognizance, police said.
