Riverhead Justice Court: Riverhead man sentenced to 45 days in jail

There were 300 cases on the docket in Riverhead Town Justice Allen Smith’s court Aug. 18-20. The following are among those adjudicated. 

• Adam Smith, 41, of Southold pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated and was fined a total of $870.

• Brandon Berryman, 23, of Aquebogue pleaded guilty to operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs and was fined $1,000.

• John Moore III, 46, of Riverhead pleaded guilty to criminal contempt and harassment and was sentenced to 45 days in jail.

• Cheryl Burgess, 49, of Riverhead pleaded guilty to petit larceny and violations for open alcohol containers and was sentenced to 45 days in jail.

• Danielle Hall, 34, of Riverhead pleaded guilty to false personation. Charges for harassment and criminal mischief were dropped.

• Charges including misdemeanor obstructing government administration, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment were dropped against Patrick Sims, 59, of Riverhead, who was taken to a mental health facility for treatment.

• A felony assault charge against Efrain Antonio Amaya, 22, of Riverhead was dismissed in town court as he was indicted in county court.

• A felony burglary charge against Nicholas Williams, 33, of Baiting Hollow was dismissed in town court as he was indicted in county court.

• A felony grand larceny charge, along with six counts of petit larceny, against Garland Massenburg III, 51, of Flanders and Nicole Saggese, 34, of Riverhead were dismissed in town court as both were indicted in county court.

• A charge against Benjamin Brannon, 29, of Riverhead for failing to register as a sex offender was dismissed in town court as he was indicted in county court.
