A Flanders teenager refused to be arrested early Saturday and briefly escaped from an officer — though was caught before long — according to Southampton Town Police.

When an officer arrived at the scene of El Ranchero Latina, a 17-year-old was highly intoxicated and kicking the front door at the bar on Flanders Road in Flanders, yelling and cursing at the security guard, and attempting to engage him in a fight, police said.

The teen refused to leave the property and was in the roadway yelling and cursing at patrons in the bar and causing a public disturbance, according to police.

An officer attempted to arrest him and he escaped and fled on foot, but was apprehended after a short foot pursuit, according to police.

He was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, according to police.

• A few days earlier, a Riverside woman also fought off after police attempted to arrest her on a marijuana charge, according to police.

Amy Novak, 26, Riverleigh Avenue in Riverside, was observed smoking marijuana in plain view in her vehicle last Wednesday afternoon near the Riverside traffic circle, when an officer attempted to arrest her, police said.

Ms. Novac flailed her arms and ingested a small amount of marijuana to prevent any evidence from being collected, police said.

She was then placed in handcuffs and arrested.

Ms. Novac was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, resisting arrest and tampering with physical evidence.

• A East Hampton man was arrested for drug possession in Riverside Saturday, according to Southampton Town Police.

A police officer observed Brian Castillo, 34, of Montauk Highway in East Hampton, in a “known drug area” on Old Quogue Road and Pine Street in Riverside at 1 a.m. Saturday and approached him, police said.

At that point, the officer reportedly noticed a shiny plastic object in Mr. Castillo’s left hand. Ms. Castillo then placed his left hand behind his back and dropped the object, which the officer determined to be a clear micro-Ziploc bag containing crack cocaine, according to police.

Mr. Castillo was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.

• Brian Kizielewitz, 32, of Old Westhampton Road in Northampton, was charged with driving while ability impaired, failure to use a designated lane and failure to signal at 3 a.m. Sunday on Lake Avenue in Riverside.

He was observed swerving out of the lane and driving on the road shoulder while heading north, and was pulled over and found to be intoxicated, according to police.

• An illegally tinted window led to a drug arrest for Riverhead man last Sunday, according to police

Justin Austin, 56, of Hinda Boulevard in Riverhead, was stopped for having a non-transparent front side window while driving on Peconic Aveneue in Riverside, when an officer smelled alcohol on his breath and arrested him.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated and a number of vehicle and traffic law violations, as he also had no license and a bald tire, police said.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
