Gordon P. Schupp

Gordon P. Schupp of Southold died Sept. 12, 2014. He was 73. 

He was born Sept. 12, 1941, in St. Albans, N.Y. to Lawrence and Lillian Schupp and was a graduate of Bay Shore High School, class of 1959.

On Oct. 6, 1962, he married Jean Calabrese at St. John of God in Central Islip.

Formerly of Bay Shore, Brentwood and North Babylon, he was an electrical planner and mapper with Long Island Power Authority for 39 years. He was also a member of Local Union 1051 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and played softball for the Long Island Lighting Company softball team for 35 years.

In his free time, he enjoyed carving driftwood birds, planting tomatoes and growing all kinds of flowers. He loved Vermont and the beach and was a New York Yankees fan.

His true love was his family, recalled family members.

Surviving are his wife Jean; a son, Gordon P. Schupp, Jr. of Rocky Point; a daughte, Valerie Paul of Westlake, Ohio; a brother Donald Schupp of Savannah, Ga.; two grandchildren Sophia Paul and Kaylee Schupp and three cousins Barbara, Douglas and Bill.

The family will receive visitors Tuesday, Sept. 16, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold, with a funeral service at 8 p.m., officiated by the Rev. John Morrison. Interment will take place Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Southold.
