Riverhead Faculty Community Theatre presents the youth production of ‘Seussical Jr.’ Friday through Sunday, Sept. 19-21 at Vail-Leavitt Music Hall in Riverhead. Performances are at 7 p.m. Friday  and Saturday and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Narrated by The Cat in the Hat (played by Ryan Mancini), the musical tells the story of Horton the elephant (Billy Pascuitti), who encounters challenges while simultaneously trying to protect Jojo (Kate Chapman) and the Whos and guard an egg abandoned by Mayzie La Bird (Kierra Prentiss). Despite facing ridicule, kidnapping and a trial, Gertrude McFuzz (Lauren Anasky) never loses faith in Horton and, in the end, friendship, loyalty, family and community are victorious.

The show is directed by Laura Nitti and assistant director Heidi Perry-Hipp and produced by Gretchen Chapman. Tickets are $15 at the door or $10 purchased in advance from brownpapertickets.com.
