Two SUVS went careening down a hill onto farmland following an accident in Calverton Thursday morning, officials at the scene said.

Three people were transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, officials. The two vehicles, a black Audi SUV and a silver Honda SUV, both came to a stop more than 100 feet off the road after the accident at the corner of Fresh Pond Avenue and Sound Avenue, officials said.

Wading River and Riverhead ambulance volunteers responded to the call, which came in at about 11:17 a.m. The Audi was heading eastbound on Sound Avenue. Officials were trying to determine which direction the other vehicle was heading. Two of the injured people were in the Honda and the other was in the Audi, officials said.

One of the vehicles took down an apple picking sign as it spun off road.

Traffic was moving in both directions shortly after the crash.
