Lane closures announced along expressway this week

Two lanes on the Long Island Expressway will be closed between exits 70 and 71 the next four nights as workers perform “major repairs” of the Halsey Manor Road Bridge, a New York State Department of Transportation spokesperson said Tuesday. 

One lane will remain open between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. while the repairs are made to the bridge, which was recently damaged by a truck in a crash.

The work is expected to be completed by Friday, the DOT said.

“As with most road work, this operation is weather dependent and may be canceled, postponed, or prolonged due to inclement weather,” the statement reads.
