Aquebogue News: Italian virtuoso concert pianist to play in Jamesport

I can’t believe it’s November already. North Fork in the fall is the best! Here’s another reminder of the events in and around Jamesport and Aquebogue. Enjoy!

Paolo Bartolani, Italian virtuoso concert pianist, will open the Jamesport Meeting House’s fall season with a program of solo works on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $18 in advance at jamesportmeetinghouse.org and $20 at the door. Student tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. 

Mr. Bartolani is an incredibly expressive performer who has appeared as piano soloist with chamber ensembles throughout Italy and France. We are very lucky that personal connections have brought Mr. Bartolani briefly to the North Fork.

Mr. Bartolani will perform on the Meeting House’s recently donated 1902 Kimball grand piano. For tickets and information, call Richard Wines at 722-5170 or email [email protected].

Old Steeple Community Church will host its annual soup supper on Sunday, Nov. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and $9 for children under 10. There are two great events coming up in November at Hallockville. On Saturday, Nov. 15, at 9 a.m. join expert ornithologist Mary Laura Lamont on a guided two-mile walk around the preserved lands at Hallockville to observe late-season migrating birds. Heavy rain cancels. Cost: $5, members; $6, non-members. Register in advance. Call 298-5292 or email [email protected].

Also at Hallockville on the 15th, from 1 to 4 p.m. join Jeri Woodhouse of A Taste of the North Fork and certified master food preserver Mark Vosburgh for an “Edible Gifts for the Holidays” workshop. This hands-on event will instruct the home cook on various methods of preparing delectable, edible gifts using seasonal local produce. Recipes are being finalized but one will include brandied fruit. All instruction and materials are included and participants will leave with their own jars. What a great idea for a Christmas gift. The class is being held at a commercial kitchen facility in Cutchogue. The address will be provided upon registration. Cost is $35 or $25 museum members, plus a $10 materials fee.
