Calverton News: Christmas greens sale set for Dec. 6

Brr! I love snow but not like in Buffalo! Dr. Vic and his wife, Jen, have family that lives there. As of Nov. 20, they could not exit their homes. I cannot imagine over six feet of snow! I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

Baiting Hollow Congregational Church on Sound Avenue in Calverton will hold its annual Christmas greens sale Saturday, Dec. 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Available for purchase will be wreaths, arrangements, small sprays and other decorations. There will also be a white elephant table. Rumor has it Santa will be visiting, so bring your camera!

Also on the 6th, head on over to St. Isidore School on Marcy Avenue in Riverhead at 6 p.m. for its 10th annual live auction of goods and services. $15 admission includes an auction paddle, a car wash voucher courtesy of Beach Hand Wash in Westhampton Beach, appetizers from Lighthouse Market in Aquebogue and dessert from Blue Duck Bakery in Riverhead. Lots of awesome items will be auctioned off. This sounds like a very fun day to me. Enjoy!

The winter coat drive at Bach Grazina East End Orthodontics in Riverhead is going strong. Thanks to all who have donated so far. Donations of coats, hats, gloves and scarves are still being accepted.

A very happy 50th wedding anniversary to Marion and Bill Hulse, who celebrated Nov. 22. I love you both dearly and am glad we got to share so many snowmobile memories together. From all your family and friends — including Lori, Mike, Cole, Regan, Bill, Michelle, Alexandra, and a certain little yorkie — we send you our best wishes and tons of love to you both. Congratulations!

Happy birthday to Betty Fox from all your friends and family (especially your “office family!”). Happy to hear you had a perfect day last Sunday!

I wish each of you a beautiful Thanksgiving that’s full of love and wonderful memories — and a little football tossed in for good measure.

Here’s a tip: For a change, peel your brussels sprouts and sauté the leaves in butter and garlic. I bet you won’t have a leaf left. Try it!

Take care, be safe, and I shall talk to you next time. Happy almost 4th birthday, Julia! I love you!
