Cops: Bicyclist caught with heroin, stolen camera and tablet

A 34-year-old Riverhead man was arrested on drug charges after police responded to reports of a suspicious person on Railroad Avenue late last month, Riverhead Town police said.

Police said Kevin King was seen riding a bike while holding several boxes in his jacket.

When asked about the items, Mr. King said, “I took that sh–, can you please let this one go.”

When searched further, Mr. King was found holding five wax envelopes of heroin, a needle, a Kodak camera and a Samsung tablet valued at $199, police said.

Mr. King was arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic needle, according to a report.

Police said they are still investing the theft of the stolen items, which they believe were stolen earlier that day.
