A Mastic man found out the hard way that public transportation isn’t necessarily the best getaway vehicle.

A Calverton woman told police that a man slapped her in the face and stole $45 from her hand last Thursday morning at the County Center bus stop in Riverside, according to Southampton Town police.

The man, later determined to be Roger Miller, 53, of Patchogue Avenue, allegedly then fled to the Suffolk County S92 bus, which was headed to Orient Point.

Shortly afterward, Mr. Miller was located and detained at the Department of Social Services in Riverhead, where he was identified by the victim and turned over to Southampton Town Police, according to a report. He was charged him with second-degree harassment, police said.
