Frank H. Brush Sr.

Former longtime Cutchogue resident Frank H. Brush Sr. of Summerville, S.C., died Dec. 9, 2014. He was 82. 

He was born May 13, 1932, in Peconic to Mary (Martka) and John Szczotka.

Mr. Brush served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 and retired after 30 years of service as a supervisor at Plum Island Animal Disease Center.

Predeceased by his wife, Dorothy (née Thilberg) Brush, Mr. Brush is survived by his children, Frank H. Brush Jr. of Charlton, N.Y., and Geraldine Berkoski of Cutchogue; his siblings, Theodore Szczotka of Peconic and Helen Pirog of Clifton, N.J.; six grandchildren; his companion of 26 years, Pearl Schoedel of Summerville, S.C.; and her children, Tabitha Miles and Toni and William Mokus.

The family will receive visitors Wednesday, Dec. 17, from 6 to 9 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. A funeral service will be held  Thursday, Dec. 18, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment, with U.S. Navy honors, will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
