Cops: Copper thieves target PSEG trucks

Nearly $2,000 in copper wiring was reported stolen from PSEG-Long Island utility trucks parked at the electric company’s Doctors Path headquarters, Riverhead Town police said.

Sometime during the overnight hours Saturday evening into Sunday morning, someone entered the National Grid property by cutting a hole in the fencing around the building, according to a report.

More than 500 feet of assorted copper wiring was stolen from three vehicles parked in the area, valued at $1,982, police said.

Detectives are investigating.
