Cops: Holbrook man fired gun in Riverhead hotel room

A Holbrook man was charged with criminal mischief on Christmas morning for discharging a firearm in a hotel room at the Hyatt Place Hotel on Main Street, Riverhead Town police said. 

Neal Shudak, 58, was arrested at the hotel room after police responded at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, according to a police release. The hotel room was damaged, police said.

Mr. Shudak was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and prohibited use of a firearm, police said. No injuries were reported.
