State police charge three clerks for selling alcohol to minors

Clerks at three stores in Flanders and Riverhead were arrested Wednesday during an “Underage Drinker Enforcement Action” in Southampton and Riverhead towns Wednesday, state police said. 

Ingrid Elias-Nistal, 28, of Riverhead, a cashier at Hampton Deli in Flanders, sold one 12 pack of Bud Light beer to an underage participant in the sting, police said.

Another 12 pack of Bud Light beer was purchased from Raquel Hernandez-Gomez, 28, of Riverhead, a cashier at Garden Deli in Flanders, according to police.

And one bottle of Bacardi rum was sold by Yan Fan Yeung, 43, of Riverhead, a cashier at Lucky Wine and Liquors in Riverhead, police added. 

All three subjects were charged with first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child and prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage, police said.

The following 10 establishments were also targeted during the sting and found to be in compliance:

• Time to Eat Café, Riverhead

• Riverhead Supermarket and Deli, Riverhead

• Main St. Quickstop, Riverhead

• Polish Town Corner Deli, Riverhead

• MG Deli, Riverhead

• Maes Deli, Riverhead

• Village Grocery, Riverhead

•Railroad Market and Grocery, Riverhead

• Oscar Deli and Grocery, Riverhead
