Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and the Riverhead Police are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man who stole money from a Tanger store in Riverhead earlier this week.
Around 1:55 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6, police said a white male displayed a knife and demanded money from a store employee at the Sunglass Hut, located in the Tanger II Outlet Mall.
Police said the man was wearing a black colored hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses at the time of the robbery.
He then fled on foot into the parking area of Tanger II with an undetermined amount of cash, police said. No injuries were reported.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest, police said.
At around the same time that day, the Capital One Bank in Jamesport was also robbed.
Authorities are also offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of that man, who is described as a tall black male with a large build wearing a white-hooded sweatshirt, according to Riverhead Town police.
Anyone with information on either robbery is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS or the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500.
