A home on Twomey Avenue in Calverton caught fire this afternoon.

Riverhead and Flanders Fire Departments responded to the scene at around 1:45 p.m. and quickly had the fire under control, according to Riverhead Fire Department spokesman Bill Sanok.

No injuries were reported, Mr. Sanok said. The fire marshall is investigating the cause of the fire.

Three people were in the house at the time of the fire, including the homeowner’s son, a fire official said. They were all safely out of the home by the time first responders arrived.

Most of the damage appeared near the roof of the home.

Police blocked off Twomey Avenue as the fire department got the fire under control. Firefighters from the Jamesport Fire Department were on standby.
