Riverhead High School is stepping up to help one of their own with a fundraiser at Moe’s Southwest Grill in Riverhead on Wednesday.

Riverhead High School Parent Teacher Organization is hosting the fundraiser for Tristin Krueger. Tristin, 18, is a Riverhead High School senior who is suffering from acute lymphoblastic leukemia. His family is now homeless after a fire destroyed the family’s Calverton home earlier this month.

“Everyone wanted to do something for Tristin,” said Allison Pressler, a member of the Riverhead High School PTO. “This is a way to help right now.”

From 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Moe’s will be donating a percentage of its proceeds to help Tristin and his family.

To help contribute to the fundraiser show the PTO’s flier (below) and 15 percent of the cost of your meal will be donated to the family. Ms. Pressler said the flier can be printed or shown on your mobile device.

The Jan. 17 fire destroyed the attic, where Tristin’s room was, ruining most of his belongings. He has since gone back to Stony Brook University Hospital for chemotherapy, while his family has been living out of hotel rooms or staying with friends in the area.

In addition to the money raised Wednesday PTO is also providing the family with a $100 gift certificate to Wild By Nature to help pay for Tristin’s organic diet, which he does as a part of his treatment.

Moe’s is located at 1081 Old Country Road, Riverhead.
