Calverton News: An encore presentation of ‘Godspell’

Got cabin fever? Then head on over to see Riverhead Faculty and Community Theater’s encore presentation of “Godspell” Saturday, Feb. 7, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 8, at 2:30 p.m. at North Shore United Methodist Church in Wading River. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors ages 65 and over. All proceeds will go toward a soup kitchen and thrift shop that’s in the works at the church. Call Laura at 631-513-2843 for tickets and more information. Do go to the performance if you can — it’s awesome!

Speaking of thrift shops, why not visit First Congregational Church of Riverhead’s Alley Cat Thrift Shop, located just behind Main Street in Riverhead. They’re open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. I love stopping by there to chat and they have some beautiful items at incredible prices. Keep in mind that donations are being accepted. Proceeds benefit the church and its community outreach programs. Hope to see you there!

Congratulations to Phillips Avenue Elementary School on the opening of its food pantry last week. This is an awesome idea as they are helping to care for the students and the community. Much success is wished for you.

‘An Evening of Comedy,’ Kent Animal Shelter’s first benefit of 2015, originally planned for Jan. 30 at Hotel Indigo East End, has been canceled and will be rescheduled in the spring. I will keep you posted, but until then why not find a new friend by adopting a cat or dog?

Happy wedding anniversary to Bill and Gail Kappenberg, who celebrated Jan. 25, with much love from your family and friends. We all hope you had a wonderful day!

Well, that’s all for this week. Be safe, shovel wisely, and get out and have some fun. I’ll talk to you soon. Bye.
