The owner of an Aquebogue nursery discovered the body of a deceased male on his Main Road property Friday evening, Riverhead Town police have confirmed.

Police received the report from Verderber’s Landscape Nursery and Garden Center  at about 5:15 p.m. Friday. The cause of death is unknown, but does not appear to be suspicious at this time, police said.

The age and identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of the next of kin. The nursery owner, who told police he discovered the body on a “farm road” on the property, did not know the man, police said.

The body was removed to the office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
