Winnie F. Ayers-Brown

Former Riverhead resident Winnie F. Ayers-Brown of Bellport died Feb. 10 at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital. She was 67.

Ms. Ayers-Brown was born May 24, 1947, in Dillwyn, Va., to Nannie (Woodson) and Robert Ayers. She worked as a certified nursing assistant at Southampton Care Center.

Her mother said Ms. Ayers-Brown was a kind-hearted person who loved helping people.

Predeceased by her husband, Harold Brown, in 2010 and her father, Ms. Ayers-Brown is survived by her mother, of Riverhead; her daughters, Angela Booker of Bellport, Dakota Ayers of Riverhead and Thermia Booker of Mastic; her son, Jamie Ayers of Riverhead; her brother, Robert Ayers of Riverhead; her sisters, Nancy Rose, Barbara and Anna Ayers, all of Riverhead, and Shirley Ayers of Coram; 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Friday, Feb. 20, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Riverhead, where a funeral service will immediately follow, the Rev. Charles McElroy officiating. Interment will take place at 12:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at Calverton National Cemetery.
