Riverhead News: Soup Supper scheduled for Sunday
Christine Floege, her two daughters, Autumn and Isabella, her mom, Robin, her granny, Barbara, and her stepfather, John, spent a week in Anchorage, Alaska, in February during the school break. They visited a chocolate factory and a reindeer farm and viewed many beautiful ice sculptures. They also visited the SeaLife Center in Seward. The temperatures were around 45 degrees the entire week and everyone had a wonderful time.
Old Steeple Community Church’s annual Soup Supper will be held Sunday, March 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. The menu includes a variety of soups, breads, beverage and dessert. Free laundry services for the homeless and emergency shelter residents will be available Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Salvation Army, 130 Osborn Ave. in Riverhead . Call 727-3338 for more information. This is a referral program; photo ID is needed to schedule laundry services. This is just one of the many programs The Salvation Army provides for those in need.
The Riverhead Lions Club will host its annual corned beef and cabbage dinner Saturday, March 14, at 6 p.m. at the Riverhead Polish Hall on Marcy Avenue. The event will also feature Irish music, stepdancers and bagpipers. Tickets are $20 for adults, $16 for seniors and $12 for children ages 10 and under. Proceeds benefit scholarships for local youth and the Lions Club’s perpetual pledge to New Beginnings/Brendan House, a long-term care residence for veterans and civilians suffering from physical and cognitive disabilities.
