Art Beat: Still life paintings on display at Riverhead Town Hall gallery

• A series of still life paintings by Center Moriches artist Cynthia Parry titled “Cookin’ ” will be shown March 6 through May 29 at the Riverhead Town Hall gallery. The exhibit is presented by East End Arts.

After a career as a full-time teacher, Ms. Parry began a second career as a visual artist. She has studied abroad, with the Art Students League and at Sam Adoquei’s atelier on Union Square. She was twice an artist in residence at the Vermont Studio Center. Her work has been shown at various galleries and venues on Long Island. 

• Art projects by Greenport School students were featured in the recent Student Exhibition at Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill. These projects can be seen from March 9 to April 9 at Floyd Memorial Library in Greenport.

• A Teen Art Show will open at Riverhead Free Library with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 6. The exhibit, dedicated to the memory of Riverhead art teacher Vincent Nasta, is sponsored by Friends of the Library and will be on view through March 27.

Call for artists: It’s time again for artists and artisan vendors to register for the annual Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival hosted by East End Arts. The event is set for Sunday, May 24, in downtown Riverhead.

Vendors who sign up on or before March 31 will be listed, along with a website link, on the event web page and their names will be included on the promotional flier.
