A woman and her nephew were arrested for making fraudulent returns at Lowe’s Home Improvement in Riverhead, according to Riverhead police.

Barbara A. Brennan, 55, of Amityville and William E. Brennan, 37, of Bay Shore are charged with petit larceny after a police investigation identified the pair making fraudulent returns throughout Suffolk and Nassau County Lowe’s Stores, a police report states.

According to the report, on Feb. 23, Riverhead police received a call from the Lowe’s loss prevention manager in Riverhead reporting that an unknown male and female made separate fraudulent merchandise returns at the store on Jan. 25.

After detectives identified the pair, the Brennan’s surrendered and were arrested Friday, police said. Both were processed and released on separate court appearance tickets for the Riverhead Justice Court.

Suffolk and Nassau County Police are investigating the additional fraudulent returns elsewhere on Long Island.
