A 48-year-old Riverhead man was arrested on a parole warrant, drug charges and for resisting arrest Tuesday night, Riverhead Town police said.

Jerry Nelson was walking on Oakland Drive North at around 9:10 p.m. and fled when officers attempted to apprehend him on the parole warrant, officials said.

After catching up to him following the foot pursuit, Mr. Nelson was found to be in possession of crack cocaine, heroin and marijuana, police said.

He was charged with third-degree and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and unlawful possession of marijuana, officials said.

The Riverhead Town Police C.O.P.E. unit and K-9 unit assisted the New York State Division of Parole to execute the parole warrant, officials said.
