Robert John Tooker

Robert John Tooker of Aquebogue died at his home March 10, 2015 from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. He was 65. 

He was born Aug. 6, 1949, in Bayshore to Carroll and Muriel (née Sharp) Tooker and was a graduate of Sayville High School.

From 1968 to 1971, he served in the U.S. Army as an E4 during the Vietnam Conflict and was the recipient of the Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the National Defense Medal

Bob lived in Sayville until 1996. On March 7, 1970, he married the former Susan Koke in East Islip and together they made their home in Southold and more recently in Aquebogue.

He was a carpenter by trade and had been a member of St. John Nepomucene R.C. Church in Bohemia.

Surviving is his wife, Susan Tooker; a daughter, Molly Tooker (Paul) Hawkins of Southold; two brothers, Peter, of Mattituck, and Richard, of Sayville; his stepfather, Jack Wills of Mattituck and two grandchildren, Chloe Jane Hawkins and Amanda Snyder Hughes. He was predeceased by a son, Christopher R. Tooker in 2010.

The family received visitors on March 12 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck where Deacon Jeff Sykes conducted services and military honors were rendered by the U.S. Army. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated March 13 at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church by Monsignor Joseph W. Staudt. Interment took place at Calverton National Cemetery.
