Riverhead News: Officers elected for Ladies Auxiliary of Riverhead F.D.

Colleen and Jim Marron are getting ready for the competition in Albany on May 2 with the L.I. Sound Chorus, a chapter of the Sweet Adelines International. The group held a retreat in January at St. Josephat’s in Glen Cove, with lots of coaching practice, and its membership drive from January through March was very successful. The chorus will have a dress rehearsal Wednesday, April 22, from 7 to 10 p.m. at Bishop McGann-Mercy High School, where you can catch them rehearsing every Wednesday. Be sure to check them out. Maybe you’ll enjoy it so much you’ll become a member and sing to your heart’s delight.

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Riverhead Fire Department elected officers April 8 for 2015-16. Elected were Connie Kenter, president; Ann Vonatzski, vice president ; Kelli Naugles, secretary; Michele Lynch, treasurer; Kathy Berezny, chaplain; and Carol Carey, sergeant-at-arms. Billee Friszolowski, a 69-year auxiliary member, has stepped down as sergeant-at-arms after serving for 25 consecutive years; she will retain the post of honorary sergeant-at-arms. It takes a strong-willed lady to do a volunteer job for all those years, and the Ladies Auxiliary appreciates her service and dedication. In June 2011, Gianna Volpe, then a staff writer at the News-Review, wrote about Billee’s accomplishments, and to honor Billee, we had the article framed and placed in the Riverhead Fire Department meeting room.

The Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge  No. 1742 and the Peconic Bay Medical Center Auxiliary invite you to a very special community event on Sunday, April 26, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Riverhead Moose Lodge on Madison Street. Tickets are $15 per person and include snacks, dinner and dessert. For tickets call Thelma Booker at 727-5898. She encourages everyone to “dress to impress and if you lose you still look good.” It will be a great afternoon of fun.
