Wading River News: Slow-pitch softball league starting up

Thank you, Laura LaSita of Wading River for the “Get Well” card and phone calls that keep me company as I heal from major surgery. There’s nothing in the universe like love. With every pill that every doctor prescribes, they should include “one measure of love.” I think love is not only the healing force that keeps us together but also the force that makes us whole.

What nice weather we’re having lately. See that, spring popped up somewhere in April. Now all we have to do is hope for a nice long season that eases into summer.

Last Sunday, it was nice running into the Shoreham-Wading River football team when they held a car wash at Wading River Elementary School to support the fund for their fallen comrade, Tom Cutinella, #54. For $5 your car got a respectable soap, scrub and rinse from some of the nicest boys, who definitely put their hearts into it. It was a beautiful day and it was a beautiful gesture. Thank you, SWR football team and organizers. Rest in Peace, #54, and God bless you and your family and friends.

Joan Shamoun of Shoreham-Wading River Community Programs sent me information about a couple of programs coming up that you may be interested in and must act on soon. A men’s slow pitch softball league is starting up that will play on Sunday mornings. Contact [email protected] or call 631-807-8426 for registration and more information. Six weeks of Zumba for adults is also starting on April 27 at the Wading River Elementary School gym, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Zumba is Latin-inspired dance fitness for all levels. Joan tells us, “So, ditch the workout and come join in on the party.” Joan is located at 250B Route 25A in Shoreham from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are fees for community programs, for both residents and those outside the community.

Signage outside North Shore United Methodist Church announces an “Amazing Piano Concert” to take place at Wading River Congregational Church. Isn’t it nice that NSUMC uses their sign to help another church advertise? The concert will be May 2 at 7 p.m. For information, call 929-8075. Thank you, NSUMC, for the good deed, and good luck to you, Wading River Congregational Church. Hope your concert is a brilliant success.

Happy belated birthday to family/friends Christopher Walden II, who celebrated April 16, and his mom, Caroll Walden, who celebrated April 17.
