Claude E. Davis Jr.

Claude E. Davis Jr. of Mattituck died suddenly May 17, 2015, in Yonkers, N.Y. He was 81. 

He was born July 22, 1934, in Somerville, Mass. to Helen (Nugent) and Claude E. Davis and served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant.

On July 9, 1960, he married the former Marie Siemerling at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in Mattituck. He remained a communicant of the church and served as a lector and eucharistic minister.

He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Marian Counci 3852, Raymond Cleaves American Legion Post 861 and Mattituck Lions Club.

Prior to his retirement, he had been a water analyst with GNS Mermaid Water Systems in Mattituck.

Predeceased by his wife, Marie, June 1, 2014, he leaves his children, Kim Ulmet and Mark Davis both of Laurel; siblings, Richard, Robert, Frances and Nancy; two grandchildren, Brady and Devyn Ulmet and a great-granddaughter McKenzie Ulmet. He was also predeceased by a brother David.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 21, from 4 to 8 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 22, at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church by Monsignor Joseph W. Staudt. Interment, with U.S. Air Force honors, will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
