Edward E. Lewis
Longtime Riverhead resident Edward E. Lewis, formerly of Ronkonkoma and Farmingdale died May 19. He was 97.
He was born March 26, 1918, in Hamburg, N.Y. to Mabel (Heath) and George Lewis. He married Muriel Lewis Aug. 21, 1955, in Roosevelt, N.Y.
Mr. Lewis served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945, achieving the rank of of tech sergeant. He was an operating engineer for The International Union of Operating Engineers Local 138 and a member of Amityville American Legion.
He is survived by his wife; three children; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family received visitors May 21 at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service took place May 22 at the funeral home, officiated by Mother Mary Garde of Grace Episcopal Church in Riverhead. Interment took place at Calverton National Cemetery.
