Baseball: SWR’s championship game postponed again

The Class A county championship game will have to wait at least one more day.

Game 3 between Shoreham-Wading River and Bayport-Blue Point was postponed until Wednesday. The game had originally been scheduled for Monday before heavy rain hit the area. Light rain continued into Tuesday and is expected to be on and off throughout the day forcing the game to be pushed back again.

The teams split the first two games of the series with the Phantoms taking game 1, 8-1, and the Wildcats answering Friday in Game 2 with a 4-0 shutout.

The expected pitching matchup for Game 3 has both teams throwing their aces: PJ Weeks for Bayport and Brian Morrell for Shoreham. Both pitchers are 2-0 in the postseason.

The game is at 4 p.m.

The winner of Game 3 advances to play the Nassau County champion Saturday. The game is at noon at New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury.
