A Flanders man was sentenced on Thursday to 12 1/2 to 25 years in prison after he killed a newspaper deliverywoman while driving drunk in Hampton Bays in January 2014.

Joseph Perez, 31, had been convicted of aggravated vehicular homicide in May.

He was driving from the Dream Nightclub in Hampton Bays early on Jan. 5, 2014 when he crashed into a parked car.

Prosecutors said Mr. Perez continued speeding on Montauk Highway, where he ultimately drove onto the shoulder of the road and hit another parked car which crashed into a third vehicle and its driver, 56-year-old Donna Sartori of Middle Island.

Anthony Guggino, Ms. Sartori’s husband, spoke with News12 on Thursday after the sentencing.

“Never once did he show any remorse,” said Anthony Guggino. “Justice was done today, but it ain’t done. I’ll never be the same.”
