Cops: Man charged with burning girlfriend’s arm with cigar torch

A Wading River man was arrested Tuesday and charged with burning his girlfriend’s arm with a cigar torch, Riverhead Town police said.

Charles Smith, 64, allegedly assaulted the victim in his home at around 2:30 p.m., police said.

She was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment and has been released, officials said.

Mr. Smith was charged with third-degree assault and held for an arraignment, police said.
