Wading River: New pastor at North Shore United Methodist Church

I hope you’re enjoying the cool mornings and sunshine of summer 2015.

North Shore United Methodist Church on Route 25A in Wading River has some news to share. The church has welcomed a new pastor to guide their congregation, the Rev. Hal Low. Welcome! Also, the church’s thrift shop has a new and improved sign that now displays its hours of operation. According to NSUMC’s recently updated website (northshoreumc.org): “The old sandwich board has served its purpose and has now been retired with honor.”

Congratulations to Wading River resident Mikey G. Kitz, who’s now one of New York City’s newest police officers. Your friends and relatives are proud of you, Mike! Be careful and stay safe, Officer Kitz.

Ernesto Rosini, a member of Wading River Fire Department, got married July 5. I will fill you in on the details at a future date, after Ernesto and his beautiful bride return from their honeymoon and can appreciate the coverage in this column.

Wedding bells are also in the future for SWR graduate Kiran Malhotra, owner of Shoreham Wines & Spirits who also raises money for various causes, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He’s also a firefighter at Shoreham Fire Company No. 3. His fiancée is Rachel Wooley, a lieutenant of the EMS unit in the same fire company. Rachel and Kiran plan to marry Oct. 8, 2017, with a reception held at Shoreham Country Club. Because Kiran and Rachel are both from SWR, were schooled here and work here, they plan to “keep it local” by sharing their wedding day with local vendors and friends. I asked Kiran if he were to ever write something in the sky for Rachel, what would he say. He replied: “Thank you for making me the happiest guy ever. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, making you happy every day.” Kiran and Rachel love to travel. They are trying to visit all 50 states and so far have experienced 20 of them. If you’d like to congratulate the couple or make a donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, call Shoreham Wines & Spirits at 744-3522 or email Kiran at [email protected]. Congratulations!

Enjoy the best that summer has to offer and be safe, well and appreciative, until we meet here again in two weeks.
