Cops: Flanders man on probation caught with loaded gun

A 25-year-old Flanders man is facing a felony weapons charge after found a loaded pistol at his home, a violation of his probation, according to a news release.

Southampton Town police and the Suffolk County Probation Office searched the home of Kevin Brown — who was on probation due to a previous driving while intoxicated conviction — on Monday about 8:18 p.m. as part of the conditions of his probation, authorities said.

Inside, they found a loaded 9mm semi-automatic pistol, Southampton police said.

Mr. Brown was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class “D” felony. He was arraigned in Southampton Town court Tuesday and released, police said. His bail status wasn’t immediately available.
