Helen Yakaboski of Calverton died Aug. 2 at her home. She was 89.
She was born March 2, 1926, in Riverhead to William and Mary (Zambriski) Condzella.
Ms. Yakaboski was a homemaker who worked in the kitchen at Riverhead High School.
Family members said she enjoyed crocheting, quilting, gardening and cooking, especially making jams and jellies.
Predeceased by her husband, Albin, in 1991, Ms. Yakaboski is survived by her children Albin, of Louisiana, David, of Riverhead, Theresa Hawkes of North Carolina, George, of Riverhead, Richard of Calverton, Anne Barnes of Riverhead and Christine Scott of Maine; her brothers William and Antone Condzella of Wading River; her sister, Margaret Dudek of Mattituck; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors Wednesday, Aug. 5, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead. Interment will take place at the church cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Isidore R.C. Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
