Southampton blotter: 27-year-old man caught with ecstasy, switchblade

An Aquebogue man was arrested on a weapons charge in Hampton Bays early Sunday morning, Southampton Town police said.

Robert Young, 27, was driving on Squiretown Road at around 2:50 a.m. when he was stopped for a traffic infraction. He was then found to be in possession of MDMA — also known as ecstasy or Molly — and a switchblade, police said.

He was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon with a previous conviction, a felony; seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor; unlawful possession of marijuana; and a speed violation, police said.

• A Flanders man was arrested Friday on drug charges in Northampton, police said.

Randy Smith, 30, was pulled over for failing to signal before making a turn onto Quogue Riverhead Road at around 1:15 a.m. He was then found to be in possession of crack cocaine and a digital scale containing crack cocaine, officials said.

He was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, police said.

• A 38-year-old Riverhead man was arrested on drug charges in Riverside last Thursday, police said.

Charles Robinson was found sitting in front of Phillips Avenue Elementary School at around 9:30 p.m. with an open container of beer. When interviewed by police he was also found to have a PCP-dipped cigarette behind his ear, officials said.

Mr. Robinson was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and consumption of an alcoholic beverage, a violation, police said.

• A Riverhead man was arrested on drug charges in Flanders late Saturday night, police said.

Eddie Buckley, 59, was seen walking on a property he had previously trespassed on with two other men at around 10:55 p.m., police said. When he was stopped by police Mr. Buckley had a crack pipe with crack cocaine in his hand, which he then threw, police said.

He was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, police said.

• An East Quogue man was arrested Friday on charges of driving without a license in Riverside, police said.

Steven Price, 46, cut off a police officer on Old Quogue Road at around 11:50 p.m., police said.  He was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, and numerous traffic violations, police said.

• An East Hampton man was arrested Sunday on charges of driving without a license in Flanders, police said.

Gerard Kucker, 56, was stopped in the middle of Wood Road Trail at around 6:10 p.m., police said.

He was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, and a parking violation, police said.
