Cops: Two arrested for DWI on Flanders Road Sunday

Southampton Town police arrested two men on drunken driving charges in separate incidents on Flanders Road early Sunday, according to a news release.

In the first incident, police said they pulled over 21-year-old Edras Mendez Ventura of East Hampton about 12:30 a.m. after several 911 callers reportedly saw him “operating a 2000 Honda in an erratic manner.” Police determined he was intoxicated and arrested him at the scene, according to the news release.

About an hour later, 44-year-old Manilito Sims of Mastic Beach was spotted driving out of his lane and speeding on Flanders Road, police said. Mr. Sims was also drunk and was arrested at the scene, according to the release.

Both men were charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, police said. Mr. Sims faces an extra misdemeanor for aggravated unlicensed driving, police said.
