Cops: Owner of Sabor Latino issued multiple violations

The owner of Sabor Latino Restaurant in Riverhead was charged with multiple violations as the result of a State Liquor Authority compliance check Aug. 14, Riverhead Town police said.

The owner, Porfirio Rivera, 56, of Riverhead was charged with 11 town code violations, 10 New York State fire code violations and six State Liquor Authority violations, police said. There were no criminal charges.

The inspection came a week after two men were arrested following a fight at the rear of the restaurant. Three women were reportedly assaulted by the men, one of whom has a baseball bat, police said.

Police said similar investigations will take place periodically to ensure that establishments serving alcohol are in compliance with town codes and laws set by the State Liquor Authority.

Online records for the State Liquor Authority currently show that Sabor Latino’s liquor license is active through 2017.
