News-Review to host debates at Polish Hall

The News-Review will host a pair of public debates Monday, Oct. 19, featuring candidates for Riverhead Town supervisor and Town Board.

The two-hour event will be held at 7 p.m. at Polish Hall. Executive editor Grant Parpan and editor Joseph Pinciaro will serve as co-moderators.

Questions will be prepared by newspaper staff and readers are encouraged to suggest topics in advance of the event by emailing [email protected]. Each candidate will be afforded time to respond to every question and to each other.

The first hour of the event will feature candidates for Town Board, including incumbent Republicans Jim Wooten and Tim Hubbard and Democrats Neil Krupnick and Laura Jens-Smith. In the second hour, town supervisor candidates will field questions from moderators. As of Monday, the nod for the Republican nomination between incumbent Supervisor Sean Walter and Councilwoman Jodi Giglio had yet to be decided. Anthony Coates will hold the Democratic line and Mr. Walter has said he is running as a Conservative regardless of whether he obtains the GOP line.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
