Riverhead News: 50th reunion for Class of 1965

Riverhead High School’s Class of 1965 held its 50th reunion Sept. 10 at Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard.

Fifty-eight classmates plus guests attended. One classmate traveled all the way from Australia. All had a wonderful time reminiscing. They looked at yearbooks and old pictures and enjoyed music. It rained heavily that evening but that didn’t put a damper on the affair. The next day, the 11th, many classmates met up at Bagel Lovers. They were also led on a special tour of Pulaski Street School — which had been their high school — by Dr. Hudson. He took them to the library and also to visit their old classrooms. The day ended with dinner at J&R’s Steakhouse.

Riverhead Free Library’s adult and information services will host a local author talk Friday, Sept. 18, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Diliberto Winery. Bestselling author Tom Clavin will speak about his latest book “Reckless: The Racehorse Who Became a Marine Corps Hero.” For more information or to make a reservation, call 727-3228.

Great events are planned for the Riverhead Moose Lodge so be sure to mark your calendars. The first event is “The Pirates of the Peconic” barbecue on Sunday, Sept. 20, from 3 to 7 p.m. in the pavilion. There will be live music by Blue Ice. Tickets are $25. The menu includes chicken, burgers and hot dogs, salads and dessert. On Sunday, Sept. 27, there will be Supermarket Bingo. Admission is $10. The Women of the Moose support Moosehaven and Mooseheart as well as other charities. Enjoy an afternoon of fun!
