Cops: Calverton man drove drunk with toddler in vehicle

A Calverton man was arrested Saturday on felony DWI charges for allegedly driving drunk with his 2-year-old daughter in his vehicle, New York State police said in a press release.

Sergio Vidales Valle, 29, was stopped at a sobriety checkpoint while driving his 2000 Ford Expedition eastbound on Route 25A in Wading River shortly after midnight Sunday. Police said he was arrested after he displayed signs of intoxication.

Mr. Vidales Valle was charged with Felony DWI and Felony Aggravated DWI (Leandra’s Law), police said. He was transported to the Riverside barracks for processing and police escorted his wife and daughter, who were passengers in his car, to their home.

An arraignment is scheduled for Sunday morning in Riverhead Town Justice Court, according to state police.
