Gregg B. Pettersen Sr.

Gregg B. Pettersen Sr. of Riverhead died Sept. 24 at Veterans Administration Hospital in Northport. He was 64. 

He was  born May 26, 1951, in Brooklyn to Mary (Belski) and Thor Pettersen and graduated from Port Washington High School in 1969.

Mr. Pettersen served in the U.S. Air Force from 1971 to 1975 and worked as a machinist for KG Brown in Mattituck.

Family members said he enjoyed fishing, crafts, darts and golf.

Predeceased by his mother, Mary, in 2001, Mr. Pettersen is survived by his father, Thor, of Vermont; his children, Frank Jarzombek of Flanders, Gregg Jr. of Vermont and Kristina of Flanders; his sisters, Kären Pettersen of Vermont and Laura Woodhull of Cutchogue; and one grandchild.

The family will receive visitors Tuesday, Sept. 29, from 10 to 11 a.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. Interment will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Calverton National Cemetery.
