Cops: Calverton gas station robbed at gunpoint

A Calverton gas station was robbed at gunpoint shortly after midnight today, according to Suffolk County Police.

At around 12:10 a.m. a man allegedly entered the Exxon station on Edwards Avenue, displayed a hand gun and demanded cash. The employee complied and there were no injuries in the incident, said a spokesperson with the department.

The suspect then reportedly left the scene headed southbound on Route 24. A K-9 unit was dispatched to the scene to attempt to find the suspect, though no arrest has been made.

The seventh precinct is currently investigating the incident.

This is the second time this gas station was robbed at gunpoint in recent years, the first time being in October 2013 — back when it was a Hess station.

Anyone with information about the robbery can call Seventh Squad detectives at 631-852-8752. All calls will remain confidential.
