Nikola J. Kumbatovich

Nikola J. Kumbatovich of Riverhead died Oct. 2 at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. He was 64. 

Mr. Kumbatovich was born Oct. 16, 1950, in New York City to Nikola and Gloria Kumbatovich and attended Pierson High School in Sag Harbor. He married Barbara (née Etheridge) May 27, 1989, in Southampton.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Family members said he enjoyed NASCAR, the races at Riverhead Raceway and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

Predeceased by his parents, Mr. Kumbatovich is survived by his wife; his children, Robert and Kevin, of Southampton, Christina McDonald of Connecticut, Erika Etheridge of Flanders and Muhammad Fulani of Riverhead; his sister, Linda Cruz of Florida; and seven grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, Oct. 9, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Galilee Church of God in Christ in Riverhead. A funeral service will immediately follow. Burial will be private.

Arrangements are being handled by McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead.
