Maxine A. Turns

Maxine A. Turns, 93, of Riverhead died Sept. 30 at Westhampton Care Center. 

She was born Dec. 29, 1921, in Brooklyn to Maxine (Barker) and Walter Barber and was a homemaker.

Ms. Turns was a member of First Congregational Church in Riverhead.

Family members said she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren

Predeceased by her husband, Loy, in 2007, Ms. Turns is survived by her daughters, Dianna Kmetz of Florida and Maxine Utter of Riverhead; her son, Walter of Upstate New York; eight grandchildren seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family received visitors Oct. 4 at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service took place Oct. 5 at the funeral home. Interment took place at Calverton National Cemetery.
