An Amityville man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with a burned body found in Manorville earlier this week.

Bryan Rosales Mejia, 21, was charged with second-degree murder in the killing of 36-year-old German Guzman, also of Amityville, according to Suffolk County Police. Mr. Rosales Mejia appeared in Suffolk County First District Court in Islip and was taken to the county jail in Riverside. No bail or bond has been set, according to jail records.

Police said a passing motorist noticed a fire on the side of the road while driving on Wading River-Manor Road near the Otis Pike Preserve on Thursday, Oct. 15 and discovered it was a burning body. The witness called 911 about 1:45 p.m., and Riverhead police were dispatched to the scene.

Suffolk County investigators were also sent to the area.

No additional details on the arrest were immediately available.
