The Riverhead field hockey team made it back-to-back playoff appearances after finishing the regular season with an 8-6 record in Division II. The Blue Waves will open the postseason Saturday on the road at Eastport-South Manor.

The Blue Waves were seeded No. 11 in the Class A bracket and are lined up against the No. 6 Sharks. The winner advances to the quarterfinals on Tuesday against No. 3 Northport.

Eastport posted a 10-4 record this year to finish in third place in Division II. The Blue Waves did not play Eastport in the regular season.

Saturday’s game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

Shoreham-Wading River missed out on the playoffs despite an 8-6 Division III record. Five Class B teams make the playoffs and the Wildcats finished in sixth in power rankings.

For boys soccer, Shoreham-Wading River was seeded No. 4 and will open the playoffs Thursday at home against No. 5 Amityville. The game is scheduled for 2 p.m.

The Wildcats went 10-4-2 overall this season and 9-1-2 in League VI. The Wildcats missed out on the playoffs a year ago.

The Wildcats did not play Amityville in the regular season; the Warriors played in League V.

The winner of that advances to face No. 1 Elwood/John Glenn in the semifinals on Nov. 2. The Wildcats went 0-1-1 against Glenn this season, most recently playing the Knights to a 2-2 draw on Oct. 9.

For the girls, defending Class A county champion Shoreham-Wading River was seeded No. 2 and will open the playoffs Tuesday at home against No. 7 Harborfields. That game is scheduled for 2 p.m.

The Wildcats won the League VI title with a 10-1-1 record and went 12-2-1 overall. Last year was the program’s first county championship since 1987.

A win would send Shoreham into the semifinals Oct. 30 against the winner between No. 3 John Glenn and No. 6 Mount Sinai. Islip was awarded the No. 1 seed in the bracket and a first-round bye.

In Class B, the McGann-Mercy girls soccer team will open the playoffs Wednesday at Babylon. The Monarchs are seeded No. 3 and the Panthers are No. 2. The winner advances to the county finals against either No. 1 Center Moriches or No. 4 Mattituck.
