Georgina Gillen

Georgina “Jean” Gillen, 90-years-old, residing in South Jamesport, passed away Oct. 29, 2015 at Riverhead Care Center from natural causes. 

Jean, daughter of Maude and Charles Ashdown was born in Hempstead on Christmas day in 1924.

Jean worked for many years as a professional secretary, assistant and office manager. In her retirement she devoted her time as loving mother and grandmother; hospital volunteer; and member of Red Hats, Pioneers, and Homemakers. Jean was a phenomenal seamstress.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Augustine “Gus” in 1988 and son Douglas in 2000, Jean is survived by her daughter, Kathleen and son-in-law, Lee Anthony, as well as six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead. Cremation and interment will be private.
